Training

Club registration and the first practice of the 2010-11 season was held Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Subsequent club practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Citadel Wrestling Room, located in Vandiver Hall on the Citadel Campus (behind McAllister Field House). Initially, wrestlers are grouped by experience for practices. Folkstyle tournaments are held from November through March and Freestyle/Greco tournaments from March to May. Participation in tournaments is voluntary. During the first part of the season, training will be based on folkstyle (collegiate) rules. In March, we add training in freestyle and Greco-roman rules.

Wrestlers will need to purchase a pair of wrestling shoes. The use of headgear is strongly encouraged, but not required. Both shoes and headgear may be purchased at local sporting goods stores. Singlets are optional, but preferred for tournament participation.
